The following satellite images are found on the Aviation Weather Center website. The Aviation Weather Center is based out of Kansas City, MO.
Occasionally NOAA will put their satellites in "Rapid Scan Operations" during particularly interesting events. When this occurs, satellite images update more frequently and you can get a better idea of how the clouds are evolving. In order to see a zoomed-in, high resolution loop of the particularly interesting region of the GOES-12 (Eastern US) satellite, click on the following link. IT WILL NOT ALWAYS BE UP-TO-DATE!
I prefer to look at the following water vapor loop as opposed to other ones. Don't ask me why, I just like the color scheme. It is from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I figured I'd put it out there if other people liked it too.
Each of the above sites has its advantages and disadvantages. For normal radar viewing, just to see a loop or what is generally going on, I prefer either of the first two. To put on storm attributes or storm cell motions, etc. you would need to use "Weather Underground" and play around with the options on there.
